Call of Duty: World at War, the beta version of PC multiplayer is now live, Activision has released an official statement. On this version players can secure themselves a beta access token by pre-ordering the World War II first-person shooter at GameStop retail outlets. They can also try their luck by registering for an account at the game’s official web site. However, it is important to note that those tokens come in a limited supply so Activision is urging players to register now. Details regarding the beta are posted below..

“The Call of Duty: World at War multiplayer betas will provide players with an opportunity to play up to Level 40 as U.S. Marines, German Wehrmacht, Japanese Imperial Army and Russian Red Army factions in a variety of game types (Team Death Match, Free-For-All, Capture the Flag and War), across three different maps:

• Castle: The Imperial Japanese Army faces off against the Marine Raiders in a daytime battle, located on the grounds of an ancient, Japanese castle.
• Makin: The U.S. Marine Raiders square off against the Imperial Japanese Army in a nighttime fight, set in an outpost on the Makin Atoll in the Pacific.
• Roundhouse: The Wehrmacht will fight the Red Army to the bitter end in a daytime struggle that features tank and infantry combat, set in a desolate, war-torn European train depot.

Bioshock 2 Preview Trailer

BioShock 2: Sea of Dreams was the logo that show up in the latest teaser trailer released on 2K Games website. The trailer is available on the Xbox Live Marketplace and the official BioShock 2 site. PlayStation Network will also got another version. The 3 different platform version of the BioShock 2 teaser indicated that it will be released for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC platforms.

The BioShock 2: Sea of Dreams trailer take setting on Atlantic Coast, showed a now-older Little Sister holding a doll resembling a big daddy.As she receded into the distance, silhouettes appearing to be art deco skyscrapers rose from the sand before the trailer cuts to a barnacle-encrusted logo for “BioShock 2: Sea of Dreams.”

Star Wars the Old Republic

Star Wars: The Old Republic maybe one of the most game that keep hidden well until it’s released date. This brand-new massively multiplayer online game is announced today at press conference by BioWare at the LucasArts campus in San Francisco, California. Star Wars: The Old Republic is based on Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic for the PC and the original Xbox system that released five years ago.

Star Wars: The Old Republic set 300 years after the events in Knights of the Old Republic, players will be put on a massive war between the Empire and the Republic and must choose a side. Bioware want the game to fit the proportions and scale of a conflict that spans the entire galaxy. The battle rages from the capital of Coruscant to the far reaches of the Outer Rim. The game will follow BioWare’s emphasis on “choice with consequences” with room for players to be ambiguous or conflicted about their motives. In short, it’s a perpetual RPG that delivers the full BioWare experience.

BioWare roleplaying games are typically built on four pillars: exploration,  progression, combat and story. The first three are already a big part of the MMO landscape and are areas in which BioWare has excelled. But the excellent stories that BioWare has consistently delivered in their single-player roleplaying games haven’t really found a reliable expression online. Bioware want Star Wars: The Old Republic to focus on the fourth pillar of adding story and character within the MMO genre. Moreover, they actually want the game to leverage the social aspects of the MMO to drive the narrative in ways that haven’t been possible in their single-player games.

Tomb Raider: Underworld Preview

Tomb Raider: Underworld Preview, it’s only 30 days until the released date (21 November 2008).  Eidos is giving another hint on its latest series of Tomb Raider and  show some glimpses of what Lara Croft will shoot, swim and climb  her way through. Every couple of months, Eidos release some screenshots or video about Tomb Raider:Underworld to make the people getting excited. Thor’s Hammer, a mythological artifactis is what Lara searched around the world this time. Surprisingly, the Norse weapon of the God of Thunder appears to have much more in common with other civilizations than previously thought, and could potentially destroy the world.

If you don’t remember or never played the previous series, the developers already provide a quick recap trailer of Lara’s adventures. The games start with a dramatic scene of Croft Manor blowing up. In previous Tomb Raider games, Croft Manor has been used as a tutorial level, and that remains the case, although now Lara has to escape her burning mansion.

The player will learn the mechanic, like hitting the Square button to deploys the grappling hook, which can be used to help you interact with various elements in the world. The hook can be used to help you swing from one area to another or shooting it todoors to let you to pull them off. The Triangle button appears to be an all-purpose action button, as you can use it to interact with the world. That means picking up items on the ground as well as using it to accelerate Lara when she’s climbing walls or moving along ledges by her fingertips. The directional pad is also extremely vital, as you’ll be able to use it to automatically turn on her flashlight with a press of the left button, heal Lara by pressing up, change weapons by pressing right or pull out her camera by pressing down. The Circle button allows players to perform rolls underneath debris, but also avoid incoming attacks.

Tomb Raider: Underworld - Thailand

Eventually, you manage to escape the confines of the Manor, and the story begins, as Lara attempts to explore coordinates left over from her father’s journals. An additional feature held on the PDA is Field Assistance, a feature that previously referred to as Help on Demand. This system still works pretty much as it did before, allowing users to determine how much hand-holding they want as they explore each section. However, Lara now speaks to the player as if she’s thinking her way out of the situation that she’s in, so if you trigger the Hint option, you’ll find out what you should focus on if you’re slightly stuck. If, on the other hand, you’re completely lost, you can hit the Task option and hear directly from Lara what you need to do. It won’t always help you solve a number of the puzzles that are scattered throughout the game, but it will be enough of a push to get you started in the right direction.

Tomb Raider: Underworld - Under the Sea

Lara had complete freedom to swim around her environments without worrying about finding air pockets. She also had a dolphin kick that  allows her to quickly move through the water, which could be engaged by holding L1. Lara’s PDA is very important, it has sonar map that provides a 3D map of her immediate surroundings, it also provides a journal that keeps track of story elements and characters met in her travels, gives access to the photos taken by the player, and hosts an inventory of items held in Lara’s backpack. Ready to try it? I believe must of you can try this game, because Tomb Raider: Underworld is released on various platform (X360 Live, Playstation 2, Playstation 3, Nintendo DS, Nintendo Wii and PC).

Unreal Tournament Expansion Pack

Unreal Tournament 3 Expansion pack is currently on its way. Midway has announced last week that it had come to an agreement with two licensors to cease publishing games based on their IP. But despite of which the identity of those two, Epic is definitely not one of them. Because Epic Games vice president Mark Rein said. “In fact, we’re working together on a major expansion that we expect will excite and grow our UT3 customer base.” The plan of Unreal Tournament 3 Expansion means Midway and Epic will still going together.

Rein don’t want to say whether the expansion was a stand-alone downloadable content, retail product, or a map pack. Whatever it is, it will be the first “major” add-on to the Unreal Tournament 3 since it shipped in July for the PlayStation 3 and PC and for the Xbox 360 last winter. UT3 is currently the top PC franchise from the increasingly console-focused Gears of War developer, which is also readying an Electronic Arts-published PC, PS3, and 360 title at its People Can Fly subsidiary.

The executive also revealed that as of August 31, Unreal Tournament 3 had sold just over 476,000 units at United State retailers. According to industry-research firm the NPD Group, to date Unreal Tournament 3 has sold over 1 million units worldwide. NPD also mentioned, the figure is only a fraction of Gears of War’s total, which is nearly 3 million units in the US on the 360 and PC .

FIFA Online 2 Preview

FIFA Online 2 is a free way to play soccer while gaining experience points and item bonuses. The FIFA Online 2 concept’s pretty simple. It’s FIFA, but it’s a free-to-play PC version. You compete in matches online or against and AI and with each match watch as you amass experience for your players and they all level up. It’s also possible to win items from matches, such as performance enhancing water bottles, make a host of managerial decisions such as trading players online, and tinker with your team’s setup in a bunch of other ways we can’t really describe because the game’s text wasn’t in English.

FIFA Online 2 already out in South Korea and coming to Japan, China, Vietnam, and Thailand according to a representative at the Electronic Arts booth . Arrow keys controlled player movement and the WASD keys controlled all the pass and shoot functionality. The game plays much like you’d expect a FIFA game to with controls for player switching, short and long passing, shooting, and slide tackling. Though it’s probably best to use a gamepad for it, the kiosk had a keyboard hooked up.

After the FIFA Online 2 commercial launch in Japan there are plans to implement a pay-per-item system, though the representative was unwilling to discuss details of how the system will work. While there are no plans for this to show up in the United States, who knows, with the increasing momentum of the North American free-to-play movement, we might wind up seeing something like FIFA Online 3.
